Mr. bush revealed his "new strategy? for Iraq last evening, 10.January. Defying the request of the public who voted last November to end the war and begin to bring our brave men and women home this month, Mr. bush instead called for an escalation in the U.S. military presence in the region.

On Thursday, volunteers will host actions in cities and towns across the nation with a simple message: "America Says NO MORE TROOPS in Iraq!? In the Maryland, D.C., and Virginia areas, D.C. for DEMOCRACY is sponsoring a rally in hopes of getting the distinct attention of Mr. bush and his advisory. Meet at Lafayette Square, directly across from the White House at 6:00 p.m. There will be a reading of the names of casualties from the middle Atlantic, along with several brief speeches and a candlelight vigil. The event will conclude promptly at 7:00 p.m. Lafayette Square is a few blocks southeast of the Farragut North (on the Red Line) and Farragut West (on the Orange Line) metro stops. Parking nearby is impossible at this time of the day. Click here for a map: http://preview.tinyur....

Those living in the national capital region have a unique responsibility to speak out for the millions nationwide who oppose the deluge of more troops but are unable to do so within listening distance of the White House.

If you can R.S.V.P., that would be great! If not, just come.
